Mediation & Family Law Dispute Resolution
Chris Park is an accredited Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and is authorised to issue Section 60I Certificates. Chris is passionate about assisting families to resolve their issues relating to financial matters and the care of children, without the need to resort to Court intervention.
Chris has had a strong focus on assisting clients in the area of family law for in excess of 10 years. She routinely sees the emotional and financial toll that conflict between families can take, and the impact is often clearly seen in the children of a relationship. This is one of the reasons Chris is a strong advocate of FDR.
The objective of mediation is to allow the parties involved to have a say in the resolution. If a resolution cannot be obtained, the Court will ultimately make a decision that the parties must live with.
The Family Law system encourages separated families to come to their own arrangements in caring for their children without going to Court.
Family Dispute Resolution is a special process covered under the Family Law Act 1975. By using a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, families are able to discuss the issues in dispute in a safe environment, and consider different options while being encouraged to be child future focused. The FDR is a neutral party and unbiased. This is a practical way for families to sort out future arrangements.
It is compulsory under the Family Law Act for separating parents to attempt FDR before applying to the Family Court for parenting orders. Chris Park is authorised to issue a Section 60I Certificate (that must be filed with any application to the Court for parenting matters), if the parties are unable to resolve their dispute and require the assistance of the Court.
The Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) Regulations 2008 sets out the standards of a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
If you require assistance, please contact Chris Park who can provide further information about the process and the costs involved.
